Four different views of the type Sb Andromeda Galaxy, M31, and its E2 companion M32. Different exposure times reveal different depths of information about the galaxy, including the sharpness and brightness of the core of M31. Visible with the naked eye, M31 contains over 300 billion stars in its 110000 light-year diameter. KPNO 4-meter Mayall telescope, 1975.
